The Team

David Hatchwell


David Hatchwell holds an MBA in International Business and Finance from the University of New York and a BA from the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University in Washington DC. He worked in Corporate Finance at Goldman Sachs, NY, and then in the Treasury Department of the Republic National Bank of New York, currently HSBC. Mr. Hatchwell directed EXCEM GRUPO’s operations in China for 15 years, later he was CEO of Excem Technologies and CEO of the Consulting and Investment Division. Mr. Hatchwell is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of EXCEM GRUPO. He is a founding member of the Georgetown Club of Spain, led by H.M. the King Felipe VI, and Patron of the Juan Antonio Samaranch Foundation. For 9 years he served in several public functions including the presidency of the Jewish Community of Madrid. He is also a member of the Board of Universidad Politécnica and OurCrowd (the world’s largest Equity Crowdfunding platform)


Mauricio Botton

Board member

Mauricio Botton graduated from the Ecole Nationale des Industries Laitières of La Roche (France), has a Chemical Engineering degree from the Institut de Chimie de l’Université de Caen (France) and an Engineering degree from the Ecole Nationale Superieure Agronomique des Industries Alimentaries (Meurthe and Mosele , France). He studied Business Administration in ESADE Business School (Barcelona). Since the 1960s, he has worked for Danone, in various positions such as Production Manager, Development and Research Director and, finally, Administrator and Member of the Board. He is currently President of the Association pour la Culture Psychologyque and the Círculo de Filosofía of the French Institute in Barcelona.

Philip Hatchwell

Board member

Philip Hatchwell holds a Business Administration degree from the University of Buckingham (England). He worked in the Asset Management division of the Republic National Bank (NY, United States) and later in the Trading division of Goldman Sachs (NY). Currently, after working in the company since 1994, Mr. Hatchwell is CEO of EXCEM GRUPO and a member of its Board of Directors. Mr. Hatchwell is also CEO of Cementos Occidentales, S.A.


David Vega

Board member

David Vega holds a Business Administration degree from the University of Lincoln (United Kingdom). He was responsible for marketing for Spain and Portugal at Madge Networks, as well as Junior Consultant at Coopers & Lybrand. In 1996 he began his career at Lexington, where he held the position of Office Manager, being responsible for the opening of the office in Barcelona. He is currently Managing Director of the firm, as well as member of the Board of Directors of ProworkSpaces (Association of the Sector of Office Spaces) and member of the Commission of Economic and Financial Policy of the CEOE.


Antonio González

Board member

Antonio González-Noain holds a Communication Sciences degree and an MBA from IESE Business School. Since 1981, he has been a developer of different projects such as Grupo Planner, an event planning company of professional and commercial fairs, among others of SIMA (Real Estate Exhibition of Madrid). Founder and majority shareholder of the company, he was president both before and after its sale in 2006 to Reed Exhibitions, world leader in the sector of promotion of fairs. He currently continues as a majority shareholder and President of Planner Exhibitions, after acquiring SIMA from Reed in 2012. Among other business activities, he was a founding member of the newspaper El Mundo in 1989 and a member of the Board of Directors of the newspaper’s publishing company until 1999.


Guillermo Massó

Board member

Guillermo Massó holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Business Administration from Universidad Complutense in Madrid and is Certified Public Accountant and member of the Registro Oficial de Economistas Auditores de Cuentas de España (Spanish ACCA). He was a partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers Corporate Finance in Spain for 21 years. He has over 34 years of professional experience in advisory and operations in Spain, Europe and Latin America, in Mergers & Acquisitions, Financing, Structuring of public-private projects, Strategy and Business consulting, with specialization since 1999 in the Real Estate and Infrastructure sectors. Currently, Mr. Massó is an adviser of Dentix Health Corporation SL, a position he has held since 2017; founder and Patron of the Sembrando Salud Foundation, and member of the Executive Committee of the Spanish Board of the Urban Land Institute, as well as a Director at Castellana Properties SOCIMI.


Miguel Ángel Luna

Independent Advisor

Miguel Ángel Luna graduated in Law from the Universidad Complutense in Madrid and holds a Master’s Degree in Economics and Business Administration from IESE Business School (Barcelona). He was an associate consultant at Caja de Promoción y Crédito, later making the leap to banking. He was the General Director of Caja de Promoción y Crédito, and Banco de Depósitos. After working at Banco Popular, where he held the position of Commercial Director, he was Managing Director at Banif, Personal Bankers; at Activobank and at Banco Comercial Portugués. He returned to Banco Popular, where he was Director of Commercial Intelligence and Segments. He is currently a Retail Segment Director at Banco Santander. Mr. Miguel Ángel Luna is also President of Aceprensa.


Jose Manuel Ballesteros


José Manuel Ballesteros studied Electronics and Telecommunications in Madrid, although he has dedicated his entire career to the world of Auditing and Tax and Labor advisory. He holds a Master’s degree in Taxation, Labor Law and Social Security from a prestigious Spanish tax & legal firm. He joined EXCEM Group as CFO in October 2013.

EXCEM SOCIMI SIR is a business project of Grupo EXCEM, founded by Mauricio Hatchwell in 1971 with the philosophy of maximizing value creation. This objective is aligned with the investment objectives of its clients thanks to EXCEM’s extensive network of public and private relationships. Furthermore, Grupo EXCEM has diversified its business areas through the creation of EXCEM Real Estate in order to take advantage of the more than 45 years experience of its team with expertise in national and international business.


Under this framework, EXCEM SOCIMI SIR was born. A real estate investment project developed with the added value of specialized leasing management aimed at students and young professionals, currently known as ‘millennials’.

The social responsibility of EXCEM SOCIMI SIR has led us to close collaboration with two foundations:

A foundation committed to bringing education to children in vulnerable environments, it has already benefited nearly 5.8 million children in 23 countries in Latin America, Africa and Asia.

 sponsors the training of 20 students selected from the best schools in Malanje (Angola) with the aim of improving their motivation and self-esteem.

Foundation that since 2001 fights against child poverty in Spain through education.

 sponsors the classroom Aula Balia Tetuán Pío XII, a social and pedagogical project for children in the second cycle of Infant Education between 3 and 6 years of age who are at risk of exclusion marked by family, school or social-emotional factors.
